Just got news from editor Ruth Heald that I will have one of my stories published on a new iPhone app as well on www.fivestopstory.com.
The story was recently shortlisted for their competition.
I wanted to explore digital media outlets for my work and having lived in London for a while, the idea of reaching travellers on the London Underground appealed to me.
Some details if you’re interested in trying it (it’s free to enter):
‘A “Five Stop Story” can be read in five stops on the London Underground. This app features modern short stories by new writers and provides a short fiction fix in your busy life. Providing you sync the app, short stories will be available when you’re offline so the app is the perfect resource for using on the tube. This easy-to-use, intuitive app enables you to relax and escape with a bite-sized short story. The app is updated every week with new stories by exciting new writers. Why not discover a new writer on your way to work?’
The idea is that you write a story with a clear plot that pulls the reader in.
The app is full of features and readers can browse stories by author, genre or competition winners. There’s a chance to get you author bio on there and a link to your website. And the app links with Facebook and Twitter so readers can like and share their favourite stories.
You can download the app on your iPhone/iPad by visiting the app store and searching for ‘Five Stop Story’.
My story ‘Mirage’ will be on the website shortly under the August ‘betrayal’ competition.
It’s a bit of a new departure for me and I’m looking forward to seeing how it works out.
